Our Energy Rebate reimbursement has also arrived. A nice fat check $8675 in total – that will make a large dent in the $11,000 home improvement loan. After I do my taxes in about a month, we’ll have the $1500 tax rebate. So all said and done – the whole system will only have been about $1,000 out of our pocket. And the savings from 7-10 months use will more than recoup that cost!
Yeah! I love saving money and being more energy efficient. Now to research recycled flooring options.

You go girl! That's awesome!
I have a little experience in home improvement and a lot of experience in recycling... not sure about recycled content floors, though.
In my current house, we needed something period-appropriate so went with wood. You CAN find salvaged wood for floors. Some carpet is recycled content. Our kitchen has "Marmoleum" which is the old-fashioned kind of linoleum (environmentally-friendly, as opposed to VINYL.)
There is also bamboo which is supposed to be warm and a "renewable resource." OR if you have a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Craig's List or any type of classified ads, you may be able to "reuse" someone else's either new or used discards. That's recycling too!
Sorry for the unsolicited advice! :-) Let us know what you decide! I'd be curious to hear what other options are out there!
I'm so happy for you. We've recycled carpet - when we changed ours out (we just didn't like it any more) we found a couple that wanted it. They said to keep their number for when we recarpeted our living room. they came back to get that too. I'm always happy when I'm not putting something in a landfill.
